Unveiled at last month’s Critical Communications World Congress in Paris, Cassidian’s BVR700 broadband vehicular router provides wireless broadband data to various IT equipment deployed inside vehicles.

The terminal is specially designed to provide resilience and security. It features an LTE 700/UMTS module that delivers fast broadband wireless communications to public safety-first responders – providing anytime, anywhere access to mission-critical field applications.

A modular architecture means the BVR700 can be upgraded when new wireless technologies become available. Existing modems can be added via ethernet or USB connections.

The BVR700 automatically selects the best wireless connectivity from the available bearers, including 4G LTE and commercial bands, as well as Wi-Fi.

Its rugged design meets public safety durability requirements and means it can be installed in a wide variety of vehicles, including cars, trucks, tracked vehicles and motorcycles.

An integrated 2-port gigabit ethernet switch makes it possible for the BVR700 to host a number of different clients, including laptops and in-vehicle terminals, as well as portable and fixed high-definition video cameras. ABVR700’s WLAN access point creates a hotspot that extends coverage outside of the vehicle to portable Wi-Fi-enabled devices.
