Three men arrested by detectives investigating the Parsons Green terrorist attack have been released by the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS). The force said the detainees – two men, aged 30 and 25, held in Newport last week and a 20-year-old arrested in Cardiff on Monday (September 25) – would face no further action. To date, seven people have been arrested as part of the investigation being carried out by the MPS’s Counter Terrorism Command. One person, Ahmed Assan, 18, from Surrey, appeared in court on Friday (September 22) charged with attempted murder and setting off an explosion with intent to endanger life. Thirty people were injured in the District Line incident on September 15. Most escaped serious harm, though one woman sustained what the MPS described as “life-changing injuries” with severe burns to her face, hands and legs.
