Teenager Tasered after punching and stabbing officer

A police officer was rushed to hospital after he was punched in the head and stabbed by an 18-year-old man he was pursuing.

A police officer was rushed to hospital after he was punched in the head and stabbed by an 18-year-old man he was pursuing. Officers were called to Perryvale Avenue in Lewisham, south-east London, following reports of two men having an altercation in the street. Both suspects fled as the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) arrived at the incident, but one of the officers was able to catch up with the teenager. The suspect then punched him in the head, and stabbed the officer in the left arm minutes later. As backup arrived, the 18-year-old was Tasered and arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and possession of an offensive weapon. He remains in custody at a south London police station. The injured officer was taken to hospital for treatment and was discharged hours later. A MPS spokesperson said: “London Ambulance Service were called to the scene, and the officer was taken to hospital for treatment on a minor injury. “He was discharged some hours later and is now recovering well at home.”
