Matthew Collins, attached to the Metropolitan Police Service’s (MPS) Central West BCU, initially denied the offence and was bailed until trial, but on Monday (March 27) he pleaded guilty to sending a communication/article of an indecent/offensive nature.

A charge of disclosing private sexual photographs and films with intent to cause distress was ordered to lie on file.

He will be sentenced on Thursday, June 1.

Collins was arrested by MPS detectives in February 2019 after a woman reported he had sent an indecent picture of her to her friend from her phone.

Superintendent Louise Puddefoot, who oversees policing in Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and Kensington and Chelsea, said: “The Commissioner has been clear that we expect every single one of our officers, including our special constables, to uphold the highest of standards.

“To secure both the confidence and trust of the public, we need to better protect our integrity by identifying those that seek to corrupt us.”

The MPS said Collins remains on restricted duties and misconduct proceedings will now follow.
