West Midlands Police said the “short pursuit” was initiated after a black Audi A3 that was believed to be stolen was spotted at around 8.20pm on Sunday (July 29).

The car collided with another vehicle on Kingsland Road, seriously injuring a man and a woman. The woman was pronounced dead a short while later.

Four people who were inside the Audi at the time have been arrested and were taken to hospital for minor injuries.

Kingsland Road remains closed to allow for collision reconstruction and forensic enquiries to take place.

The incident has been referred to the force’s Professional Standards Department and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
