Officers arrested in Ombudsman drugs inquiry

Two Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers have been arrested as part of an investigation into a number of potential offences, including the theft and distribution of prescription drugs.

Two Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officers have been arrested as part of an investigation into a number of potential offences, including the theft and distribution of prescription drugs. The pair were detained at police stations in County Antrim by Police Ombudsman for Northern Ireland (PONI) investigators. The Office of PONI told Police Professional that the officers have now been released on bail pending further inquiries. As to officers’ duty status, a spokesperson for the PSNI said the force is “cooperating fully with OPONI in respect of this investigation and awaits a recommendation from it”.
