A firearms officer is in hospital after shooting himself in the foot. A Metropolitan Police Service firearms unit was called to an address on Old Oak Common Lane to conduct a welfare check early on Thursday (September 21). After completing the call and leaving, the officer’s firearm was discharged “causing an injury to his foot”. He has been taken to a central London hospital for treatment but his condition was described as not life threatening. No other shots were fired and no-one else was injured. The Directorate of Professional Standards has been informed.
