Officer injured in moped collision
An officer has been injured after being struck with a moped in London.
Two Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) officers on motorcycles were in slow moving traffic in Lewisham on Wednesday (August 1) when they spotted a stolen moped carrying two passengers.
The vehicle drove directly at the officers, knocking one to the ground and causing his bike to land on his right leg.
The moped then drove off down Brownhill Road where it collided with a lorry.
The 15-year-old rider was apprehended by the second officer and arrested on suspicion of robbery, aggravated taking and driving away, assault on police and failing to stop.
The moped was recovered from the scene and the MPS is attempting to trace its passenger.
The injured officer was treated at the scene and is now off duty recovering at home.
