An officer accused of sexually assaulting a colleague on a work night out has been cleared of misconduct. Detective Constable James Bartrum was out with colleagues in London last year when he allegedly touched a female officer’s breast over the top of her clothes. The incident sparked an investigation by the Metropolitan Police Service’s professional standards department, which examined whether he had breached standards of professional behaviour. After reviewing CCTV footage from the nightclub, a misconduct panel found the allegations were not proven. The hearing was held in private to protect the complainant’s identity.
