Police Constable Edward Gordon is accused of section 20 GBH in connection with the arrest of a man in Foreman Street, Nottingham, in the early hours of November 3, 2019. The man was subsequently taken to hospital with injuries to his face.

Following a referral from the force, the Independent Office for Police Conduct carried out an investigation into whether the officer’s use of force during the arrest was appropriate in the circumstances. This was completed in July 2020 and the Crown Prosecution Service authorised the charge in September 2020.

PC Gordon will make his first appearance before Leicester Magistrates’ Court at 10am.
