The Police Remuneration Review Body (PRRB), the new police pay review body, has been officially launched.

The PRRB was established by the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, and became operational in September 2014 covering England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The PRRB is an advisory non-departmental public body and will provide independent advice to the government on pay and conditions for police officers at or below the rank of chief superintendent.

It will be chaired by employment relations consultant David Lebrecht, who is also chair of the National Crime Agency Renumeration and Review body.

The team also includes the former deputy chief constable of Hertfordshire Helen Bailey and former National Secretary of the Police SuperintendentsÂ’ Association of England and Wales Patrick Stayt.

The creation of the body was a recommendation of the Tom Winsor review into police pay and conditions.

In light of the review the Government has said it believes that an independent police pay review body represents the fairest and most appropriate method of determining police officer pay and conditions.
