New ACC will be ‘great asset’ to Dorset Police

A former firearms commander and women’s champion has started her new role with Dorset Police as an assistant chief constable. Julie Fielding joins the force from Devon and Cornwall Police where she served for more than 24 years, most recently as a detective chief superintendent. Ms Fielding was commander for crime and justice and strategic lead for women, as well as the representative for women for the Police Superintendents’ Association of England and Wales. She is also an experienced firearms commander and has worked for Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services. Dorset police and crime commissioner Martyn Underhill congratulated Ms Fielding on her appointment, adding: “Her experience and dedication will be a great asset to the communities we serve and I very much look forward to working with her in the future.” Ms Fielding said: “These are challenging times in policing and I look forward to working with partners and communities to keep Dorset safe. “I am fortunate to have worked with staff in Dorset through the strategic alliance and part of my role will be to ensure that, with increased demand, we continue to tackle the issues which are important in local communities whilst planning ahead for the future.”
