The new Llay police station and custody suite is due to open in October but construction work has yet to conclude.

Now flooding could push its handover back even further as contractors assess the impact the water has had.

The price of the Llay police station has increased to £21.5 million.

Police and crime commissioner Arfon Jones said: “I am aware that there has been a flooding incident at the site and that the impact is being assessed by the contractors, Galliford Try.

“The new building has not yet been handed over to North Wales Police and the cost of any necessary remedial work will be the responsibility of the contractors and will not mean any additional expense as far as taxpayers are concerned.”
