Two men spotted “acting suspiciously” on a moped threatened a police motorcyclist with a blade, then slashed the wheels of his bike before making off. Nobody was injured in the incident, which occurred in North London on November 22. At around 2.30pm, an officer on a marked motorbike saw two males acting suspiciously on a moped in Benwell Road. When the officer signalled for them to stop, the vehicle made off, but eventually stopped in Sunnyside Road. The pillion passenger then got off the moped, threatened the officer with a large blade, and struck the tyres of the police motorcycle. Both the rider and the passenger, described to be aged between 18 and 22, then made off. Detective Inspector Greg Coates, of Camden and Islington’s Operation Attrition Unit, said: “These men are clearly dangerous and need to be arrested. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information. “In particular we would like to hear from anyone who was in this area at the time and has dashcam footage.”
