Microwave thrown at officers from attic during disturbance
Officers escaped serious injury when a microwave was thrown at them from an attic as they responded to reports of a disturbance at a house in the early hours of Friday morning (March 3).
Nottinghamshire Police said officers were called to a property in Harcourt Street, Beeston, after shouting and the sound of people fighting was heard from outside the address shortly before 1.30am.
“Upon entering the property, the officers were stopped from accessing the attic by a man who threw numerous objected down the stairs, including a mattress and microwave,” the force said.
“Officers managed to gain access to the attic a short time later and found a woman with a head injury. She was taken to hospital for treatment.”
Four people who were inside the property when the victim was found were arrested on suspicion of inflicting grievous bodily harm. They included three men aged 47, 50 and 52 and a 25-year-old woman.
The 47-year-old man was further arrested on suspicion of possession Class A drugs.
Detective Inspector Simon Harrison, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “We’ve arrested four suspects in connection with this incident and our inquiries remain ongoing.
“A woman was found injured at the property but thankfully her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening or life-altering.
“That said, we are treating this incident extremely seriously and a scene is in place whilst we fully investigate the circumstances.
“This was clearly a potentially very dangerous incident that could also have easily resulted in one of our officers being seriously injured.
“It is important people realise that throwing objects at police officers, as happened here, is totally unacceptable.
“Lastly, I would like to assure the local community we believe this was an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public.”
