Two men have been arrested in connection with the “completely reckless” attempted murder of a police officer. The men, aged 18 and 33, were detained on Wednesday morning (June 28), in west Belfast and taken to Musgrave police station. The pair are being questioned over an incident on January 22 when a number of shots were fired at a Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) officer on Crumlin Road in Belfast at a filling station. Two of the bullets hit the officer in the arm, and he was rushed to the Royal Victoria Hospital where he underwent surgery. He is now in a stable condition. Following the attack, Chief Constable George Hamilton labelled it as “completely reckless”.
