The incident occurred after two men in a van were stopped by Kent Police at 10.40am on Tuesday (March 17) following an earlier operation in which Class A drugs with an estimated street value of £200,000 seized from a property in Dover.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “One of the occupants is reported to have run from police before falling from a wall near Dover Marina. The man, in his 20s, suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to a London hospital. He is in a serious but stable condition.”

A mandatory referral has been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

The other occupant of the vehicle, Thomas Wood, 43, of no fixed address, was arrested at the scene and later charged with two counts of possession of Class A drugs with intent to supply. He and two others arrested last week as part of the same operation appeared at Medway Magistrates’ Court and have been remanded in custody.

They will appear at Canterbury Crown Court next month.
