Man in court for `attempt on life` of officer after house disturbance

A man is due to appear in court next month charged with the attempted murder of a police officer.

A man is due to appear in court next month charged with the attempted murder of a police officer. Tony Buttigieg, 36, was arrested following reports of disorder at an address in the Caerleon district of Newport on October 2. He made a brief appearance at Newport Magistrates` Court and was remanded in custody. Mr Buttigieg will next appear at Newport Crown Court on November 8. The charge relates to an attempt on the life of a Gwent Police officer who sustained “no injuries” in the incident.
