Man dies in police 999 call collision

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into the death of man after he was struck by a police car on its way to an emergency call in Brighton.

The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has launched an investigation into the death of man after he was struck by a police car on its way to an emergency call in Brighton. The vehicle collided with the pedestrian on Devonshire Place in Kemptown shortly before 1am on Friday (August 25). The man died at the scene and Sussex Police said the road has been closed while investigations take place. The force said the IPCC had been informed “as is usual procedure”. The oversight body confirmed to Police Professional it is conducting an “independent investigation” into the fatal collision.
