Multi-Force Shared Services (MFSS) and West Yorkshire Police will be sharing the latest insights into police recruitment at a free-to-attend breakfast seminar in London tomorrow (Friday, November 13).

MFSS is a back office shared service developed through collaboration between Cheshire Constabulary, Northamptonshire Police and Nottinghamshire Police, delivering a range of transactional back office services in human resources (HR), accounts, purchasing and payroll.

It has a shared service transactional hub plus a payroll processing centre, and in addition to a fully-managed IT system, there is a service desk for first-line support and additional advisory support for staff and managers.

At the seminar, Michael Drummond, commercial development manager at MFSS, and West Yorkshire Police resourcing manager, Danny Wilks, will highlight the benefits a shared service can bring, including efficiency, latest HR techniques and cost savings, as well as detailing how shared services can develop in order to meet current and future marketing trends and how they can grow moving forward.

It is being hosted by e-recruitment software provider WCN. Business development manager Mark Houlihan explained: “Every police force in England and Wales is preparing for major budget cuts, so it’s vital that each part of their business is streamlined. Online technology has revolutionised the way the recruitment market is able to work, from the integration of procurement frameworks right through to video interviewing.

“It is likely redeployment will be a key factor, as it’s the best and most cost-effective way to retain the most experienced and high-quality staff. Statistics have shown it can have cost savings of up to £30,000 for every position filled. If you have the right technology in place, you will be able to maximise the recruitment process ensuring you end up with the right candidate for the right role.”
