Force’s PCDA cohort sworn in
Nottinghamshire Police’s second Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) cohort has been sworn in.
The new officers will work towards a degree in Professional Policing Practice with the University of Derby, alongside their core officer training.
Nottinghamshire Police and neighbouring Derbyshire Constabulary are early adopters of the PCDA, which was implemented in 2018.
In addition to the 16 new officers sworn in this week, 31 officers started in September last year.
It prepares the way for 2020, when the entry requirements to policing are changing and officers will be required to have a degree level qualification or go through the apprenticeship route to enter the service.
The ceremony at the Civic Centre in Arnold on Wednesday (February 6) was overseen by Nottinghamshire Police Deputy Chief Constable Rachel Barber, with officers’ friends and family in attendance.
