Force granted more time to question ‘neo-Nazi’ soldiers

Detectives have been given more time to question four soldiers suspected of preparing acts of terror for a banned neo-Nazi group. West Midlands Police officers were granted another five days to interview the quartet, who were arrested during a pre-planned operation on Tuesday (September 5). The men, from Birmingham, Ipswich, Northampton and Powys, are being held on suspicion of having allegiance to the proscribed far-right organisation National Action. All four are members of the armed forces. However, West Midlands Police confirmed there is “no threat to the public’s safety”. Last December, National Action became the first right-wing extremist group to be banned under terrorism laws. The Government has described it as “virulently racist, anti-Semitic and homophobic”.
