Drugs and alcohol testing is a hot topic, particularly where road policing is concerned.  Focusing on non-invasive diagnostics testing and combining in depth discussions with question and answer sessions, Draeger Safety is hosting a two-day Police User Group on March 9 and 10, 2011.

Chaired by Jeremy Moore, chief superintendent police liaison officer, this inaugural event will be held at Draeger’s extensive premises in Blyth, Northumberland.

Areas for discussion will include the move to roadside evidential breath-testing and the introduction of saliva-based drug screening at police stations. In addition, guests will gain valuable insight into how mobile drug and alcohol testing is carried out in other parts of the world.

There will also be an opportunity to discuss the latest developments with colleagues and to exchange views on lessons already learned with Draeger personnel.

Draeger has been supplying police forces all over the world with breath alcohol measurement devices for over 50 years and currently has in excess of 6,000 units in use in the UK alone. In addition to stationary and mobile evidential units for drink-driving, the company’s continuous research and development has also brought new technology into non-invasive drugs testing.

Steve Wilkinson, UK diagnostics specialist at Draeger, comments: “This is an ideal opportunity for all those involved in diagnostics testing to network with colleagues whilst finding out how the newest technology can assist the UK’s police forces. Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the discussions and raise their own questions in response to the case studies, the issues surrounding worldwide experience and the latest developments in diagnostic testing.”
