Cognitec develops market-leading face recognition technologies and applications for customers and government agencies around the world. In various independent evaluation tests, FaceVACS® has proven to be the leading technology available on the market.

Cognitec’s portfolio includes products for facial database search, video screening, border control, ICAO-compliant photo capturing and facial image quality assessment. Cognitec’s headquarters is located in Dresden, Germany. Other offices are in Miami, FL; Rockland, MA; and Hong Kong.

Face recognition systems have been available on the market for about 15 years. Being a very complex technology, initial performance results were poor and the usefulness for security applications was limited. However, massive investments into research and development, as well as numerous field trials have resulted in a very reliable technology compared to a few years ago. For example, tests conducted by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in the US have shown that recognition accuracy of the leading algorithms has increased by a factor of 20 between 2002 and 2006.

Cognitec’s face recognition technology allows industry and governmental customers to prevent identity fraud, secure borders and support physical access control. Around the globe, other companies have developed and continue to create new solutions using Cognitec’s technology – a resounding testament to the technical proficiency and customer-friendliness of their products. Cognitec provides its customers with innovative, easy-to-use, flexible and customisable face recognition products and ensures a straightforward integration and deployment of their software products, mainly through the utilisation of ‘open system’ architecture and unparalleled technical support.

Cognitec’s face recognition technology can help enhance security in areas where it is important to verify the identity of persons based on facial images. Examples of such applications include border control, law enforcement investigations, passport or drivers’ licence issuance, video surveillance and physical access control.

Cognitec’s face recognition technology can also be used for convenience and productivity applications, such as web applications, photo album applications, event photography, VIP recognition, advertisement, automotive applications and more.
