A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possession of a firearm following an incident in White Hart Lane shortly after 11.30am when officers conducted an intelligence-led stop of a vehicle.

The suspect vehicle stopped but then drove off at speed striking a specialist firearms officer.

London Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance were called and the officer was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He has since been discharged from hospital.

Four males, two aged 17, one 18 and one 19, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. A woman, 23, has been arrested on suspicion of perverting the course of justice.

The six suspects remain in custody at police stations across London.

Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Metropolitan Police Service’s Specialist Crime Directorate said: “This was an extremely serious incident whereby the safety of the public, as well as the life of the police officer, was endangered. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen this disturbing event”.
