15-year-old boy to stand trial for terrorism

A boy from Bradford is due to stand trial for making an explosive device as well as terror-related charges.

The boy – who cannot be named due to his age – has been charged after officers found two carbon dioxide cannisters made for the purpose of creating an explosive weapon.  

He was arrested by North East Counter Terrorism Unit on August 10.  

The BBC reported that he has also been charged under section 58 of the Terrorism Act for possessing a record of a kind likely to be useful to a terrorist, a document called “Anarchist’s Corner”. 

The news website also added that when asked his nationality, the defendant replied “British, white”.  

He is due to stand trial in Leeds Crown Court on February 18.
