‘DVD nasty’ surprise

West Yorkshire Police are sending a special DVD to the county’s most
prolific thieves who steal from vehicles warning them of the chances of
getting caught following the deployment of the Force’s “Capture Cars”.

The DVD shows a convicted car thief smashing his way into one of the unmarked vehicles fitted with specialist equipment to identify the offender. The thief was later arrested and put before the courts.

The film will also be shown in the Force’s helpdesks and custody suites to prisoners in police cells.

Assistant Chief Constable David Crompton said: “We want thieves to know that we know who they are and if they commit another crime the chances of getting caught are high.’
