The Chief Constable of the Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) invites applications for the following Sergeants vacancies:

Authorised Firearms Officers:

  • Clyde, Argyll and Bute

  • Aldermaston and Burghfield, Berkshire

  • RNAD Coulport, Argyll and Bute

  • Garlogie, Aberdeenshire

  • St Fergus, Aberdeenshire

  • Bacton, Norfolk

  • Derby, Derbyshire

  • Vulcan, Caithness – limited timeline of 3 years

  • Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl), Wiltshire

  • Devonport, Devon

Police Trainers:

  • Operational Capability Centre, MDP HQ, near Braintree, Essex, due to relocate to Southwick Park (Hampshire) during Summer 2022

National Firearms Instructors:

  • Firearms Branch – various locations across the UK

Serving police officers and police officers who have recently retired (within 36 months) are invited to apply. If applying on promotion, constables will need to have passed their promotion period, be able to evidence they have passed their part 1 exam and evidence completion of any work-based development if applicable.

Applicants seeking substantive level transfer must have served in the rank of Sergeant (or equivalent). Applicants should be able to evidence a credible and relevant policing record.

Applicants will undergo security vetting at SC level as a minimum and for specific posts DV level clearance is required. Applicants must also be capable of passing a medical and achieving a minimum fitness standard equivalent to 7.6 on the 15m Multi-Stage Fitness Test (MSFT) during the recruitment process and annually thereafter.
