Who are we looking for?

This exciting career opportunity is open to Inspectors/Detective Inspectors looking for promotion with a proven track record of effective delivery.

To be eligible to apply for this process, you must:

  • Be a current Inspector / Detective Inspector as at 29th June 2022;

  • Have an overall competent or exceptional PDR rating for the last performance year;

  • Meet the Met's attendance management criteria;

  • Be free of any bar to promotion as a result of disciplinary outcomes.

All expressions of interest must be submitted by 23.55 hours on Thursday 23rd June 2022, with completed applications being submitted by 23.55 hours on 11th July 2022.

Candidate briefing

We will be holding online candidate briefings (as detailed below), prior to the closure of the expression of interest window to provide you insights into this promotion process. The briefings will be opened by Commander Richard Smith, and guest speakers will provide advice as to how you can look to prepare for this process.
