The Chief Constable Ministry of Defence Police (MDP) invites applications for an anticipated vacancy within the MDP Chief Officer Group, for an Assistant Chief Constable who will lead the portfolio of Organisational Development and Crime. The portfolio includes Chief Officer responsibility for all training (firearms, developmental and recruits), and MDP Crime Command.

The MDP is a national civilian armed police force protecting defence and other critical assets, including the nation’s nuclear deterrent and its armed forces. Over 90% of its officers are Authorised Firearms Officers, who are required to comply with the highest professional and qualification standards.

The Chief Constable is looking for an exceptional leader, with a strong credible professional policing record and change management skill, to support him by leading the OD&C portfolio in running the force of 3,160 employees which serves to protect some of the Nation’s most sensitive sites and assets.

Applicants are invited from serving police officers, or those who have recently retired (within 12 months). All applicants must have passed through the Senior Police National Assessment Centre, and then have successfully completed the Strategic Command Course.
