Assistant Chief Constable - Joint Protective Services
(covering Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire)
Assistant Chief Constable - Eastern Region including Kent
Bedfordshire Police have two exciting opportunities for exceptional candidates to lead collaborative operational units for which Bedfordshire have lead Force status.
The two units are:
• Assistant Chief Constable for Joint Protective Services, which is a role operating on behalf of the Strategic Alliance, comprised of Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire. This role is responsible for delivering both uniformed protective services, including Armed Policing; Roads Policing; Dogs; Operational Planning and Support, and non-uniformed protective services, including Major Crime and Scientific Services.
• Assistant Chief Constable Eastern Region, a role that operates on behalf of all 6 Forces in the Eastern Region plus Kent in the delivery of the Eastern Region Specialist Operations Unit (ERSOU) and the Eastern Region Counter Terrorism Intelligence Unit (ERCTIU).
The successful candidates will work closely with our Chief Constable, Jon Boutcher and Temporary Deputy Chief Constable Mike Colbourne as part of the Bedfordshire executive team, but also closely with the Deputy Chief Constable’s of the member Forces.
A strong and productive working relationship with the individual Forces and Police and Crime Commissioners and their teams is important, and sustaining that relationship going forward will be a key aspect of this role.
It is therefore crucial that the successful candidates are exceptional team players with strong stakeholder relationship skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with current police governance arrangements.
Applicants must have passed the Strategic Command Course and be able to demonstrate a breadth of operational leadership experience, as well as experience of leading on major programmes. A good understanding of HR and Finance is also required. All applicants will be selected on an equal basis that determines their suitability for the post.
Candidates are asked to request an application pack by contacting Laura Mills, Resourcing Manager in our three force HR team on 07734 814981 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about either role before applying, Chief Constable Jon Boutcher or any member of the Chief Officer team will be pleased to speak with potential candidates. Please contact Katrina Moss on 01234 846981 to arrange a telephone discussion at a mutually convenient time.
