Assistant Chief Constable – Local Policing
Assistant Chief Constable – Operational Support
(Welwyn Garden City)
Hertfordshire Constabulary has two exciting opportunities for inspirational and ethical leaders to join our innovative and ambitious Chief Officer Team as Assistant Chief Constables. We place a particularly strong emphasis on providing victims of crime with a high quality service and sustaining our significant investment in neighbourhood policing. Hertfordshire has an impressive track record in crime fighting and ASB reduction and is currently re-configuring resources to meet the demands of emerging crime trends. We are a strongly performing force with high levels of public confidence.
The successful candidates will work closely with our Chief Constable Charlie Hall and Deputy Chief Constable Michelle Dunn to deliver the ambitious Police and Crime Plan for Hertfordshire. Hertfordshire Constabulary has extensive collaborative arrangements with neighbouring Bedfordshire & Cambridgeshire with approximately 30% of the forces staff and officers in collaborated units.
The ACC Operational Support role will lead across this strategic alliance for criminal justice, custody, contact management, civil contingencies and business continuity and firearms licensing. The successful candidate will also play a role in building on groundbreaking work already achieved in this arena.
The ACC Local Policing role will be responsible for all of the local uniform and investigative resources within Hertfordshire including our well-resourced local neighbourhood capacity, response policing and criminal investigation teams. They will also be responsible for the locally delivered response to serious and organised crime – including the safeguarding command.
A strong and productive working relationship with the Police & Crime Commissioner and their team is important and sustaining that relationship going forward will be a key aspect of this role. It is therefore crucial that the successful candidates are exceptional team players with strong stakeholder relationship skills, and a demonstrated ability to work effectively with current police governance arrangements.
Applicants must have passed the Strategic Command Course and be able to demonstrate a breadth of operational leadership experience, as well as experience of leading on major programmes. A good understanding of HR and Finance is also required. All applicants will be selected on an equal basis that determines their suitability for the post.
Candidates are asked to request an application pack by contacting Laura Mills, Resourcing Manager in our three force HR team on 07734 814981 or by email at email@example.com.
If you would like to have an informal discussion about this role before applying, Chief Constable Charlie Hall or any member of the Chief Officer team, will be pleased to speak with potential candidates.
